This section of the Foodkit provides some suggestions and ideas on how you can enhance your visitor’s experience and help them to remember and recommend you. It ranges from you getting recognition for your hard work through to understanding the dining expectations of foreign visitors, while still offering them good fresh, Scottish food.

Entering Business Awards . This explains the benefits of winning awards, how to select the most appropriate award, how to enter it and lastly how to get the most out of winning it.

Writing a Press Release. This gives a structure and format for writing a press release and focuses on what will help journalists decide to use it.

Purchasing Fresh Food. This section provides some tips and guidelines on how to choose and purchase fresh food.

Making the Most of Farmers’ Markets. These markets are an excellent way of obtaining fresh, seasonal, local food and of developing good supplier relationships.

Serving Visitors from Abroad. Whilst this Foodkit is about encouraging the use of local, fresh, seasonal food it also recognises that there are often small differences in dining expectations that can make a real difference to a visitor’s enjoyment of their food. It contains suggestions from professional guides and interpreters who work with different nationalities here in Scotland.

Presenting a Scottish Menu. This is about helping tourism businesses to give their menu a ‘ Scotland slant’ and to make it as interesting possible to visitors from elsewhere.
